LG ready to unveil 15-inch OLED HDTV
Early 2010 release expected for UK
It's good news for OLED fans as LG Electronics has announced that their first OLED TV will hit the market in November. The bad news is that it will only sport a 15-inch sized screen and won't hit UK stores until some time next year.
First spotted at CES, LG’s 15-inch OLED TV is set to become the largest OLED TV available after adding 4-inches on top of Sony’s XEL-1, the world's first and only OLED television currently available for consumers to buy.
As well as the extra four inches in screen size, the small bedroom-sized TV has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a super-fast response rate, low power consumption and a screen guaranteed for 30,000 hours of use.
LG's first OLED TV offering will launch in Korea in November, with an arrival in the UK likely to be in early 2010. There's no news on the price, but we'd expect it to be something similar to the extortionate one attached to the Sony XEL-1. On the more sizeable OLED TV front, LG has also announced hopes to deliver a 30-inch version some time in 2012.
But for the time being, the 15-inch model will be unveiled at the IFA 2009 consumer show in Berlin next week, where T3 will be to get more on the new OLED telly on the block.
