Facebook Refuses To Ban Holocaust Deniers!!

n some countries it's illegal to say the Holocaust never happened and that millions of innocent people lost their lives at the hands of the Nazis. That, however, is definitely not the case on Facebook, which has caused a row by refusing to ban hate groups that actively promote Holocaust denial.
Dallas lawyer Brian Cuban has criticized the social networking site for this stance. Some of the groups link to white supremacist and anti-Semitic websites.
In an e-mail exchange with Facebook, Cuban received the following response:
"Specifically, we are sensitive to groups that threaten violence towards people and these groups are taken down. We also remove groups that express hatred towards individuals and groups that are sponsored by recognized terrorist organizations. We do not, however, take down groups that speak out against countries, political entities, or ideas."
"The bottom line is that, of course, we abhor Nazi ideals and find Holocaust denial repulsive and ignorant. However, we believe people have a right to discuss these ideas and we want Facebook to be a place where ideas, even controversial ideas, can be discussed. Of course, we have some limits."
Not surprisingly, this has caused a stir among Facebook users. After all, this is the same site that has banned pictures of breastfeeding mothers and reportedly has a large staff who spend their days checking the site for dubious images. So why, many wonder, isn't hate speech treated the same way, and just what are Facebook's limits? Source: Yahoo Tech Canada
