IPhone Explosions caused by External Force, says Apple

French iPhone problems not due to battery overheating, according to Jobsy's people.

Apple has adopted a 'don't look at us' approach after reports of exploding iPhone handsets in France were blamed on battery overheating problems.
Apple France has been investigating the issue and claims that any devices suffering cracked or broken screens have been the result of an "external force." In other words, it's your own damn fault, nothing to do with our batteries.
A number of French users had complained that overheating had caused the screen to implode, with a watchdog in France investigating the claims. Similar issues have been reported in Holland, Sweden and the UK.
But Apple have denied responsibility for the breakages and says the instances being investigated are occuring for a tiny minority of iPhone owners.
They said, in a statement: "To date, there are no confirmed battery overheating incidents for iPhone 3GS and the number of reports we are investigating is in the single digits,"
"The iPhones with broken glass that we have analysed to date show that in all cases the glass cracked due to an external force that was applied to the iPhone."
Meanwhile, stricken iPhone users are denying doing anything to cause the damage... and those battery packs do get mighty, mighty warm. Hmmmmm? The plot thickens.
