Google highers Tim Bray, Google vs Apple

In the growing war of words between Apple and Google, Google just picked up a very sharp tongue with many followers. Even without writing a line of code, his impact will be felt through his blog and tweets.
One month after resigning from Oracle and after spending a few days teasing it on Twitter, Tim Bray, the co-creator of XML and one of Sun's more prominent personalities, has resurfaced with Google to work on the Android platform.
At Google, Bray will assume the title and position of Developer Advocate, which he admits is a bit fluid at this point. He also admits that he has a lot to learn about Android, the Google-backed open source mobile platform, and is not totally sure of what his job will entail. Bray plans to bring himself up to speed on HTML 5 and write an Android app to learn the platform.
"There's nothing that says I'm just doing Android, but it seems that there's enough Android work to keep a dozen of me busy. A couple of other things have come up in the conversation where I might be useful; we'll see," he wrote in a blog post Monday.
Bray, a prominent blogger and programmer, joined Sun in 2004 and stayed on through the merger with Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL), but only just. The deal closed on Jan. 27, and on Feb. 26, Bray sent out the tweet "Just resigned from Sun/Oracle. Not currently looking for another job."
In Monday's blog post announcing his new employer, Bray offered a hint of detail on why he left his old one. "I'd had an offer to stay with Oracle which I decided to decline; I’ll maybe tell the story when I can think about it without getting that weird spiking-blood-pressure sensation in my eyeballs," he wrote.
It didn't take long for the well-known Canadian programmer to land in a new home. It did, however, take Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) a little while to meet his one demand: to stay in his native Vancouver. In a blog post announcing his new job, Bray said every conversation with Google "all ended at the point when I said '...and I don’t want to move to the Bay Area'."
This time, Google came around. He can stay in Vancouver and work on the Android. He listed ten reasons why he likes Android, then became the latest soldier in the Google-Apple warfare by shredding Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) and the iPhone.
"The iPhone vision of the mobile Internet’s future omits controversy, sex, and freedom, but includes strict limits on who can know what and who can say what," he wrote. "It's a sterile, Disney-fied walled garden surrounded by sharp-toothed lawyers. The people who create the apps serve at the landlord's pleasure and fear his anger."
"I hate it," he added.
