XBox is the only Winning Console this Year !!

Last week we got to see the NPD console sales numbers for July, which painted a somewhat bleak picture as it represented the fifth month in a row for declining sales.

Despite the somewhat depressing news for the video games industry as a whole, Microsoft was able the extract some positive out of it. According to Joystiq, Microsoft called its Xbox 360 the "industry's sole bright spot in 2009" as it is "the only console to show growth this year."

So far in 1009, compared to the same period in 2008, there has been 17 percent growth in sales for the Xbox 360. While the busiest time of the industry will hit later this year, Microsoft ought to feel pretty pleased with itself by being ahead of the game.

If you're interested in picking up an Xbox 360, you'd be wise to hold off for a couple of week as there has been pretty good evidence of a price cut on the Elite 120 GB model.
