A Teenager spends 4 months average in front of a screen !

Ten hours a day, their not trying hard enough.

A new study by npower has shown that on average children spend nine hours and 54 minutes per day watching various screens – with two hours and 43 minutes spent watching TV. This suggests teenagers in the UK are spending the equivalent of four solid months a year in front of a mobile, TV, laptop or gaming console screen.

Clare McDougall, Education Programme Director for npower commented how “the summer holidays are traditionally a time when you expect kids to be outdoors playing with their pals, but the lure of technology has made it harder to get young people to switch off”. With technology becomingly increasingly accessible though its no wonder kids are watching their favourite film, or making a play list on their way to school.

The new "No Power Hour" initiative has been launched by npower to encourage children to turn off their computers for an hour a day to save energy. We at T3 however are not convinced the generation of ‘screenagers’ will be so keen to switch off.
