Jackson's family planned to buy Twitter followers for the star

Obviously, the deal has hit a something of a stumbling block

Via 't3.com'; According to an Australian marketing outfit, uSocial.net, Michael Jackson’s family were planning on forking out for 25,000 Twitter followers shortly before the star died.
uSocial’s chief exec, Leon Hill, claims that a member of Jacko’s family asked him for help conducting a Twitter campaign. “I can't admit that we dealt with Michael Jackson directly, though we were in touch with someone in his family recently,” he said. “It would have been great to conduct services for Michael Jackson in a different time, under different circumstances,” he added.
uSocial sells packages of Twitter followers at approximately £0.06 per subscriber and it sources new followers through tracking Twitter space and contacting appropriate Twitterers.
What we can’t really understand is why The King of Pop would need to pay for an audience. While his death might have resulted in a monumental publicity boost, he hadn’t exactly reached Z-list status prior to his visit to the UCLA Medical Center.
Right now, MJ’s Twitter account has over 29,000 followers. Not exactly Stephen Fry territory then, but not too shabby for a man who has a) only tweeted three times, and b) died. Incidentally, those three tweets have all be issued posthumous, so it’s a safe bet that if the Jackson family were interested in his Twitter account before his passing, they’ll be falling over themselves to grab it now.
