Facebook 3.0 for IPhone

Social network update leaked on rival social network

He didn't exactly give chapter and verse on all the new features, but a Facebook engineer has confirmed that Facebook 3.0 for iPhone is a finished product.

That engineer is Joe Hewitt, aka @joehewitt over at Twitter. According to a weekend Tweet, he informed the world that he had: 'Just uploaded Facebook for iPhone 3.0 to the App Store for review. :)'. Presumably the addition of the smiley is an indication that he's rather pleased with the end product. Although Joe's rollercoaster web 2.0 world is seemingly neverending. A later message on Twitter added: 'As excited as I am about 3.0, I am *really* excited about 3.1, which I get to start working on tomorrow. Tonight I can relax.' Yes, just one evening off and the slave drivers over at Facebook have got our Joe working on yet another improvement to the mobile version of (arguably) the world's most popular social network.

So what do we get with Facebook 3.0? Well, despite Joe's excitement with the project, he's not actually let on about any features of the app. So it's just a matter of sitting and waiting for Apple to vet the app and unleash it onto an expectant public. We suspect that should be done and dusted in a matter of weeks.
