RV870 to Inherit Design Concept from RV770
AMD’s Evergreen generation chip has reportedly adopted the same design concepts as RV770, according to a recent post at Fudzilla.
Of course the new chip is bringing more shader units and faster speed, and the biggest change is included support for DirectX 11. There’re rumors that Evergreen would be delayed to November - anyway, it will be undoubtedly the first DirectX 11 GPU available on the market.
As for NVIDIA’s next generation chip which we call GT300, it should feature new architecture and you may expect some major design changes.
