Kingston Technology Makes SSD Upgrade Affordable and Easy

Kingston Technology today announced the release of the SSDNow V Series solid-state drive (SSD) upgrade bundles. Targeted specifically for mass-market consumers and small and medium businesses, these bundles are first to try offering a low-cost solution for upgrading existing desktop and notebook computers with the advantages of solid-state technology. The NAND flash storage components are available in 64 GB and 128 GB capacities, and come with the widespread 2.5-inch form factor. They use SATA 3.0 Gbps interface. Moreover, the read and write speeds the drives achieve sustained go up to 100 MB/sec. read and 80 MB/sec. write. Two bundles are offered, the one being for desktop computers and the other for laptops. Along with the desktop bundle you'll receive a 2.5-inch SSD drive, a CD with Acronis True Image cloning software, 3.5-inch mounting brackets, and SATA data and power cable extenders. With the laptop bundle Kingston will sell you a 2.5-inch solid-state drive, and add a 2.5-inch USB SATA external enclosure in case you want your old HDD to continue working inside the laptop, and use the new SSD as external storage media. Of course, the new SSDs are being showcased at the moment at COMPUTEX 2009. They are backed with a three-year warranty, 24/7 tech support and are now shipping to retail channels.
